Contract farming: “Groundnut from farm to consumer”
ACG with it’s focus on CSR adopted a contract farming project for sourcing Groundnut & Hibiscus products from small holder farmers, Located in Greater Kordofan & Darfur States. The objective of the project is to support small holder farmers financially, give free extension services and agricultural inputs as result ensures the supply of high-quality crop.
Africorp established – “The Groundnut Project” in the Kordofan region, which was raised on a partnership approach where farmers have land labour and farming know-how, whereas ACG subsidizes the prerequisites for farm production via seeds, finance, extension services, access to market and management, all on an interest free basis from the seeding process till the end of chain of production. Currently the project risen on a partnership approach with the farmers that provide land labour and farming know-how, combined with Africorp and access of entry to market, access to quality high-grade seeds as well as technological and agricultural industrial expertise. Furthermore, farm land ownership is wholly and solely under ownership of the farmers.
Contract-farming – “Groundnut Project” – from the year 2018 – 2021, began in 6 villages in the Kordofan state with 129 farmers covering a span of 995 feddan’s shared between them. The feddan span increased to 1900 by 2019 with a total of 413 farmers. The area allocated further increased between the year 2019-2020 to 3,400feddan, partnering with 733 farms and in 2021, 4000 feddans operated by a total of 1,406 farmers in the Sheikhan & Alkhoy localities, Um Rawaba, Alrahad and Albasia localities.
