TerraFund for AFR100
African countries have pledged to begin restoring 100 million hectares of degraded land by 2030 through AFR100. A group of ambitious donors have capitalized TerraFund for AFR100 to finance the top 100 African non-profit community organizations and for-profit atbusinesses that are restoring trees to suitable African landscapes. Africorp International ventured into partaking in the 2022 cohort, becoming the first and only company or organization from Sudan to enter into this global initiative for climate action.
In our first year, 20,000 Acacia trees were distributed among small holder farmers in the three districts, spanning 128 hectares and established a nursery site in Samandiya to grow fruit trees (mango, guava and lemon), provide food security and develop high producing fruit trees with the aim of scaling this concept to instigate a secure food (fruit) market within the communities.
